Security and Card Access
The Canterbury card is issued at enrolment by Student Administrative Services and is your official identification, security and access, therefore, please ensure that you carry your Canterbury card with you at all times whilst on campus.
For futher information, please contact the Canterbury Card Coordinator.
The security system automatically locks all doors between the following hours:
Weekdays: 1730 to 0800 hours
Weekends: All day (24 hours)
Card access must be used for entry (with PIN code) during these out of hour periods. It will also be required to exit from the computing laboratories out of hours. This enables the University to keep records of who is in the department. Never let other people use your access card, or pass through the door at the same time.
Security guards patrol all buildings out of hours and may request to see your Canterbury card at any time. They have the right to remove individuals from the building who do not have a card.
1st Professional students do NOT have after-hours access to the ECE Tower Block or Laboratory Wing. They do have after-hours access to the College Core Block and EngCAD Laboratories.

In addition, 3rd Professional students have 14 hour access between the hours of 8am – 10pm 7 days a week to the Department's Digital Systems Laboratory, ECE Tower, Level 2.
