Transport

Akaroa is situated on Banks Peninsula about 1 1/4 hours drive from Christchurch. The nearest airport to Akaroa is Christchurch Airport.

Transport from Christchurch to Akaroa on Sunday November 21st

Attendees are encouraged to arrive in Akaroa by 6p.m. on Sunday November 21st. The opening Conference event is at 8p.m. Three 9-seater vans will make at least one trip each from Christchurch Airport to Akaroa on Sunday afternoon. The cost is $10 one way payable as cash to the driver. The last van will leave the airport at 5:30p.m. To receive details, email IVCNZ stating:

• Time your flight arrives at Christchurch Airport
• Names of those travelling
• Name and address of accommodation in Akaroa

Two commercial operators operate shuttles at regular times from Christchurch City to Akaroa and return. Note that these leave from the central city, so additional taxi, bus or shuttle transport must be arranged between airport and city. See

Note that no conference-arranged transport to Akaroa is planned for Monday. Please travel on Sunday.

Return Travel

The conference vans will be used to transport as many people as possible to Christchurch Airport on Tuesday afternoon and early evening. Attendees wishing to use this service will be asked to write their names and flight times on a board at the conference. The cost is $10 each.

Please note that the conference-arranged transport is for the convenience of visitors to Christchurch. Those attendees living in Christchurch are expected to arrange their own transport to and from Akaroa.
