Electrical and Computer Engineering

Electrical and Computer Engineering

Postgraduate Qualifications Offered

Certificate of Proficiency (CoP)

Without working towards a degree, you may want to study a particular aspect of engineering for a specific project or employment opportunity. If you are appropriately qualified, you may enrol for an individual course and, on passing the examination, will be awarded a Certificate of Proficiency.

Postgraduate Certificate in Engineering (PGCertEng)

The PGCertEng is an opportunity for professional engineers to develop advanced technical training. It also serves as a pre-qualifier for our Masters degree. Candidates are required to complete at least 60 points (0.5EFTS) of coursework over either one semester (full-time) or part-time over two or more semesters. Courses can be chosen from a combination of 600-level and 400-level courses. More >> (pdf 604 KB)

Master of Engineering (Endorsed) Electrical and Electronic Engineering

Each candidate must complete a programme of study with a minimum total weight of 1.4 EFTS. The programme of study consists of a thesis (1.0 EFTS) and courses with a total course weighting of not less than 48 points (0.4 EFTS). Study for the degree is usually full-time but part-time study is available with approval.

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

Doctoral studies are open to graduates with a Master's degree, or an honours Bachelors degree in suitable subjects. There is a minimum period of enrolment of 24 months, but the degree typically takes at least three years to complete. Candidates undertake an advanced research project in a specialised area, the results of which are presented in a thesis which is examined by international experts in the project area.
