Excursions

Queenstown offers all sorts of activities for visitors to participate in over the beautiful summer months.  During AMN-2 we wish to encourage our attendees to join in with a few of these wonderful activities.  On  Wednesday 9th February 2005 we have scheduled an excursion afternoon to enable our visitors to get out and enjoy our beautiful country.

Some of the tours likely to be offered include:-

Nomad Safaris:  Skippers Canyon & Safari of the Rings.

The Skippers Canyon is one of the original 4x4 wheel adventures that follows the historical trail of the gold mining days of the 1860s.  There are also two Lord of the Rings Trips offered as part of the current interest in the trilogy of films and are proving very popular.  The “A” Trip is closest to Queenstown covering the filming locations adjacent to and around the Wakatipu Basin.  The “B” Trip covers the filming locations at the head of the lake around the Glenorchy area.

Walter Peak Farm Tours:

Sail on an old steam ship built in 1912 to the working farm station of Walter Peak.  Walk through the engine room and watch the workers shovelling coal into the furnaces and steam engine pistons and components working.  The Farm Tour includes a walk around beautiful gardens, an entertaining sheep and dog presentation and sheep shearing.  This is a great activity for those looking for relaxation instead of the usual Queenstown extreme adventure activities.

Queenstown Wine Trail:

The Original Wine tour visits 4 wineries including the Gibbston Valley Winery Cave and Cheese factory.  The Summer Sampler is a 2 winery visit.

At the conclusion of the AMN-2 Conference we would like to offer interested participates to take part in a tour of the beautiful Milford Sound, located on the West Coast of the South Island.

Milford Sound

Milford trips are probably the highlight of most visitors visit to the Queenstown area.  This can be done in three ways depending upon budget and time constraints.

  1. Fly – Cruise – Fly.
  2. Coach – Cruise – Fly back.
  3. Coach – Cruise – Coach.

If you are wanting to participate in any of the offered activities please look out for the "Excursion" section on your Registration form and record your interest there - these bookings will be made for you by our Conference Organiser.  Payment for these activities will be required with your registration fee.
